Scary: Intimidating Voters in 2012

For anyone who takes time to think, and consider, whatโ€™s happening to us, this is scary.

Have you wondered why thereโ€™s all the noise about voter fraud without seeing any news about voter fraud?

It shouldnโ€™t surprise anyone that a group playing havoc with a few cherished American values derives from the Tea Party.ย  Voting rights, thatโ€™s a traditional American value, right?ย  Now True the Vote is going after selected voters to try to suppress voting.ย  With software designed to spot minor differences in driving and property records, and organizations in 30 states, theyโ€™re hoping for thousands of volunteers to help them achieve their goal of affecting the 2012 election.

Voter fraud?ย  Does it exist?ย  The New York Times says not really.

โ€œVoter identity fraud is all but nonexistent,

but the assertion that it might exist is used as an excuse

to reduce the political rights of minorities, the poor, students,

older Americans and other groups that tend to vote Democratic.โ€

What True the Vote is doing is illegal.ย  Itโ€™s prohibited by The Voting Rights Act of 1965.ย  It should matter, for reasons of common morality as well.ย ย  That many of the same people enabling this peversion of law claim to have fundamental religious and ethical convictions is mind boggling.ย  But in a Karl Rove world, itโ€™s the end, not the means, Stupid.

Weโ€™re a republic, not a banana one, right.
