Avalanche Warning

It's raining delegates, storm warning dispatched. What was a trickle of four, then five, became 20, with no promise of letting up.

What's an avalanche anyway?

"Anything like an avalanche in suddenness and overwhelming quantity: an avalanche of misfortunes; an avalanche of fan mail."
"To overwhelm with an extremely large amount of anything; swamp" (Random House Unabridged Dictionary).

Did you know there's a verb, avalanching?

A friend of mine writes that she's tired, just finished having company.  "Sleep now," I wrote back, "An avalanche is coming, and it's so exciting you won't be able to sleep later."

Snowy white, pure and clean.  Fresh air.  It's here.

It smells avalanchy (new word).
